Flight 93

Having just been to visit Ground Zero
In New York last week...
And, having been to visit the Pentagon memorial
In Washington DC two years ago...
There was no way we could pass through Pennsylvania without finding that grassy field...
Where the passengers and crew of Flight 93 sacrificed themselves
So very courageously
Standing here, looking back to the hill where they flew at a
speed of 580 miles per hour, just forty feet off the ground...
You cannot help but feel all kinds of emotions
Tremendous horror for what they faced and endured during the struggle...
Profound anger for the bright and wonderful lives cut short, all in the name of religion...

And then, profound Gratitude for all that they saved on our collective behalf
This memorial was difficult to locate. It was also so completely out of our way, and
we even broke the Law just to be able to stand here. But it was so absolutely
necessary to complete our Tribute to those lost on September 11, 2001

  1. Oh, I cried just reading the plaque and then seeing that first picture of the hill. It is still such a raw memory in my heart. :-(

  2. I would have trespassed for that too. I'm so glad you shared this with us. It's something that not everyone sees or talks about, yet it's something we should know about. Thank you.
