Happy Birthday, Dad!

Mini's replacement arrived just in time for the Captain's birthday today!
As much as I already miss the convertible... I'm glad to be a Jeep-girl again!
First stop on our birthday agenda today... The gun range!
For a little shootin' fun!
The last time the Captain and the Ranger went shooting, mom and I
went shopping in Carmel. But this time, I stuck around to join the fun!
Ranger and I shared a lane...
He gave me lots of great advice...
And, he set my targets...
After I finished, he recommended I take this one home with me...
He said it'd make a great welcome mat!
Watching him handle his weapon is oddly comforting...
And, reassuring. Our Ranger is confident, capable...
And seriously accurate!
It was a nice way to begin our day together!
After the range, we picked up his brother and all went to dinner...
Then we returned home to relax in the gardens...
Pretty much a perfect day!
Tomorrow we say farewell to the Ranger. He's off to
Texas to spend some of his pre-deployment leave there...
Things get a little sad around here after he leaves, so we're going to pack up and
go to Washington, DC! Last year, for mom's 70th birthday we treated mom and
dad to a trip to Biltmore. This year, for dad's birthday, we want to show them DC...
We celebrated Mom for four days last year and, we intend to do the same for dad!
We begin in Richmond where we'll stay at The Jefferson and tour Monticello!
Then we're on to the Ritz at Tyson's
Corner and, I've arranged a tour of the Capitol!
Next, we're at the JW Marriott on Pennsylvania Avenue... I've
arranged for mom and dad to have a suite with a White House view
because they don't know it yet, but we'll tour the White House too!
We plan to hit all the highlights of DC. Arlington, Tomb of the Unknown, Arlington
house, the monuments, the Pentagon memorial... And, on Sunday morning, we'll
be at the Washington National Cathedral to attend the 8:45AM service! After
the service, it's off to Washington's Mount Vernon. I can hardly wait!!
I dressed our bed in brand new summer
garden-inspired linens for mom and dad's stay...
I'm so happy my mom loves it because after they leave, I plan to
have it all dry cleaned and sent to her as a souvenir of their visit!

  2. Ok - the Ranger?? Be still my heart! But seriously, I love the bedroom you did for your parents. What type of flooring is that? I am hoping to re-do my floors next spring. Love your blog - I found it via Bridget's Bake at 350.

  3. Holy shooter! Remind me never to get on your bad side.

Glad that the visit is going well. Your mom is going to love having that bedding in her own place. How sweet are you!

Happy birthday to your Dad, best wishes for many more.

    God's speed to the Ranger.

  4. I love the comforter, where did you buy it?

Janet you are such a class act. I do not know how you do all that you do, with only 24 hours in a day.

  5. Thank you, Anon...

The bedding is Pottery Barn. I picked it up during our last visit, (late August) to the Pottery Barn outlet in Gaffney, SC.
