Mother's Day Garden Friends...

Of course, there's no way to know if this is the baby
squirrel I nurtured for a few days earlier this Spring but...
When she showed up this morning I sure hoped it was!
And even if it's not, I am very glad to
welcome new babies into our gardens!
Of course, there are no shortage of squirrels around here...
They're everywhere!
And I do mean, everywhere!
Believe it or not, there's a pair of chipmunks at the
bottom of this tree that are bossing everyone around!
They have chased bluebirds away from the
pile of cracked corn I put down for the ducks...
And they've chased the squirrels away from the birdfeeders too!
This little squirrel has been sitting up here for nearly half an hour!
Eventually she will have to take on the chipmunks...
Or just sit up there and wait them out!
It's been a beautiful Mother's Day out in the garden today!
Calm and quiet...
Just the way it is meant to be!
Happy Mother's Day to you!

  1. It seems like you had a nice Mother's Day. All the little critters are adorable. The bird on the bird bath is one I do not recognize but it is grogeous. Thank you for sharing your day in the garden with us. It lifts me up to see such beauty through the eyes of others. Have a great week.

  2. I think I need a pair of chipmunks! Our squirrels have gotten a bit too big for their britches---slurping hummingbird nectar and pulling down a feeder!
