Cake Decorating Class!

Whose brilliant idea was it to take a cake decorating class in June!? Oh, that's right... It was my brilliant idea! Note to self: Save cake decorating as a fall or winter activity... Why? Because sitting in a classroom after work and baking cakes in the summer is less fun than it might be in November.

Nevertheless, my character cake for lesson two is baked (Perfectly!) and I've whipped up a double recipe of the instructor's decorating icing. I know a butterfly isn't technically a character but since I had to buy the pan I figured I might bake a Butterfly again, whereas Mickey Mouse or Nemo would probably never get another shot after this class
In my first class last Monday I learned that to keep a cake from
humping up in the middle you should lower the baking temperature
to 300 degrees and add 10-15 minutes to the baking time. I found that at
300 degrees this cake took an additional thirty minutes to bake
My orange Supreme cake Butterfly is ready for Decoration
I'll take my camera to class with me and if my instructor
will allow it I'll take photos for you - Wish me Luck!
